The only thing that I can see better about Datek is described in an article in Forbes. (check www.forbes.com --> enter Datek in search field then click in article)

The article mentions that Datek is on an ECN (electronic communication network) called Island that is supposedly way faster.

This is an excerpt from:
Free enterprise comes to Wall Street
By Matthew Schifrin with Scott McCormack
FORBES, April 6, 1998

". . .
FORBES checked to see how responsive the ECNs were at posting limit orders. One recent afternoon we telephoned marketmaker Herzog, Heine, Geduld with an inside bid. Four minutes passedfor two of them we were on holdbefore our bid for 100 shares appeared on a Nasdaq marketmaker screen.

We next tried Web broker E*Trade: It took E*Trade two minutes also, then our limit order was posted by Bloomberg Tradebook.

We next tried Datek Online, which uses Island to post limit orders. From the time we gave the order, just three seconds passed before it hit the Nasdaq screen.
. . ."

Any comments?????

I used Datek as well.

They only real gripe I have is no BB:OTC trading yet..
( hope to see them change soon.. )

When playing a quick day trade response time can be problem. (Some of the problem is my response time.. LOL )

I have a direct connect to Net both @ work and at home do not notice performance. You may want to discuss with your ISP and Datek support.

Good luck. Let me know how your transition works out. I am thinking about the some only for the BB:OTC reason.

Hi, everybody!

Re: DATEK. I have account there but used it only for rt quotes - because DATEK had no touch-tone phone trading option. And I need it on job where I can't always use internet. If this changes I will send them a check.

Viktor.
