As usual, X, you explain the obvious very clearly and calmly. I do think we all want more productive citizens, and less dead wood, and we do not know how to get there. I don't want to see hungry children on the streets, and I don't want people thrown into the criminal justice system for taking desperate measures to feed their children, either. Or breaking into my house or my car!! Or stealing my child and slicing off her ear and sending it to me!! A huge gap between the rich and poor creates these kinds of social instabilities, and I want no part of them. Food is such a small expenditure, relatively speaking, and yet is is the very basis of life. I just do not even understand how someone could make the other side of this argument.
