Scott, big companies with their extensive accounting departments report earnings faster because a: the big money managers investing in these companies insist on it, b: accounting is always up to date, c: they can afford to have the auditors look over the books before the little companies can. AS for Alpine, it is hard for me to imagine any big price jump on the release of news. 1997 is already over and unless ASL and the sector as a whole can maintain positive earnings beyond the first quarter and certain issues relating to Alpines quest for successfull geographic diversification are resolved positively I cannot see huge returns on investment. ASL remains a bit of a sleeper in my portfolio.
