Abbott is so negative about using DHA for only only one reason---they would have to pay Martek for use of oil because they know it would give their competitors in the formula market a competitive advantage in the market which they would have to match. In other words, it would increase their cost of goods sold for formula and hence their margins would shrink somewhat--not good for balance sheet analysts. They present lame technical reasons for not using DHA in public (they say it needs more study for proof of benefit/safety) but all the evidence of scientific study is contrary to their position. hope this helps.......Bill
