Thanks Albert , 2M K6 at 300mhz sounds very good
coupled with probably 2M+ K6 classic at 233mhz or so that should give AMD a good earnings picture for Q2 . When do you think it is going to hit $50+ ?

BancAmerica Robertson Stephens upgrades AMD to BUY from market performer
LOS ANGELES, March 31 (Reuters) - BancAmerica Robertson
Stephens said its analyst Dan Niles raised his rating on shares
of Advanced Micro Devices Inc. to buy from market performer.
-- said "based on discussion with several sources in the
industry, we believe the production situation at AMD is
improving drastically versus last quarters."
-- said net result is AMD should be able to produce 13-15
million units in 1988 vs Niles' forecast of 11 million units.
-- said believes profitability could not be achieved as
early as Q2 or Q3 versus a previous Q4 forecast.
-- AMD shares were up 2-10/16 at 29-3/16 by midday.

albert - Re: "We estimate AMD is now producing 300K K6 processors per month with a very steep ramp into the second-quarter positioning AMD to ship over two million K6 processors in the second-quarter."

That implies only 900,000 K6's were produced in Q1 - DOWN from 1.5 million in Q497.

And this is a sign of improved yields? That is a 40% DROP in production!

Re: "AMD to ship over two million K6 processors in the second-quarter."

They could do this just by pushing more wafers through the fab at the yield rate of Q497.

Albert?? Where did you find those research notes you posted earlier from prudential and dlj?? The details behind upgrades and downgrades are usually very hard to find. And it is extremely useful information...as a former analyst with alex brown i can tell you that most investment banks are extremely careful(selfish) with their proprietary research.

Great finds!!
Your online source would be greatly appreciated.
I'm brand new to SI...this is in fact my first post.
And i am long AMD, 25,000 shares in my client portfolio.

Thank you,

Steven
