When a large block trade occurs, often a negotiated price is set between the buyer and the seller which is often below the current bid. Because these trades have to be reported, the lower negotiated price results in a trade on a downtick.

Yes, this is a good thing short term. I 'd like to thank the Academy and the Selection Committee....BUT this is not a sure thing. I remember Bay Networks being added to the New York Exchange and the 500 and it promptly began a 65% plunge. Companies will trade on their fundamentals not on the index they belong to. I'm more interested in the comments of Lehman than on all this cheerleading. My God, its good to be bullish but don't forget risk. It tempers the mind and the soul. Lehman's comments may be off base but let's have some discussion rather than being dismissive. Isn't this what Al Gutman has been saying? Please don't respond by saying but he's been wrong on the stock. A few points does not make someone wrong or right...how quickly those points and more will disappear if Lehman is correct. All that said, it is a very good day. Eric.
