Pat: That link gives no details of what results are expected. DWDM technology whilst new to some, has already been established. If I recall correctly ,16 wave Optical Multiplexers have been built tested and installed. At present, noise interference and radiation between the spectrums has prevented an increase beyond 16. These optical Multiplexers have given existing Fibre lines a new lease on life and in so doing have pushed down sales of new Fibre.(GLW)

If Cambrian is playing catchup using Canadian tax Dollars,it is unlikely to command a high premium. The valuation however would be quite different if the R&D funding is directed towards pushing existing frontiers of DWDM technology.

Incidentally I do not believe that the credibility or quality of an
R&D program improves with Govt funding. I am sure a case can be made
to prove it is just the opposite.!
