As a novice I don't understand the mechanics of this scenario you describe, or even how you know this; the main thing I'm not clear on is how one can manipulate the bid and ask prices. Also, could you perhaps explain the "window dressing" phenomenon you and someone else have referred to today? Again, as a novice, this is unfamiliar to me.

Phil,

If the shorts are covering, they are buying, not selling. If the shorts are shorting more, they are selling. So, I'm not following this and want to understand, since what you say is usually important.
