A feature of the Fujitsu/Orckit "SPEEDPORT" product, as I understand, is their unique implementation in separating and providing the analog phone service line from the broader digital band for data.

As we know today, when we experience a major power failure, we are still able to lift our phones and hear a dial tone because the electrical powering of these lines is provided via the serving central office.

Under digital implementations, such as ISDN, and all other competitive DSL implementations, it is my understanding that this feature is lost.

Can anyone add to or substantiate this, significant differentiating, feature of the Fujitsu/Orckit "SPEEDPORT" product.
