James:

<<I just stimbled on one gold miner DAY that seems to have some gold
hedged, and a strong cash reserve, and is beat down fairly well,
so I'm trying a small bet on her.>>

I checked out DAY and their production is only hedged to mid 1998. If gold does rise and stay up they'll be ok. Otherwise, they will be in a quandry.

James,
allmost all north american gold miners are also big silver producers.
so, to be big on gold miners, one is(most likely) taking a position in silver. This is one reason why they are forever linked.
