Maxwell - Re: " Do you know whether Mendocino be using slot 1 as PII? Does it have an L2 cache on the daughter card like PII?"

Mendocino will be a Slot 1 device - as well as MMO compatible for notebooks.

If your question is "Can additional L2 cache be added on the daughter card" - I don't know for sure. The cache controller has to handle this off-chip L2 cache. My guess is No - it won't have it since the purpose is to reduce costs by adding smaller amounts of L2 cache to the CPU silicon (an eliminate the external SRAM chips) - and HOPEFULLY shrink the whole darn thing with a 0.18 micron process.
