Jim, I bleieve the US ogv was attempting to subsidize the lcd technology untill Japan scooped up just about the entire market. PIXT's FED has a real chance this time around as it's technology obsoletes the AMCLD technology utitized by the Japaneese. Japan will eighther have to decide to walk away from $25billion in investments in AMLCD or Liscense from PIXT or come up with there oun version of FED with infringing on PIXT with 350 patents the later will be hard to do. PIXT chairman said the japaneese are very interested in FED and we could be looking at new FED alliance partnerships soon. The screens used on the backs of alirliners are currently AMLCD. problem is the realtime video is distorted and the field of view is diminished when the seatback is lowere into a reclining position. Pixt technology solves both of these problems. Problem is the first color screens are just now being produced. Motorolo just started shipping in commercial quantity this month. PIXT own production is scheduled to begin this month from the UMC Tiawan plant. The first production line will has 10,000 units per month capacity. The PIXT production facility in France is producing but in limited quantity, some production units but mostly engineering samples. PIXT French plant is directing the technology transfer to UMC's Tiawan fab. PIXT chairman is working with the french gov and several Universities on Grant application for setting up a PIXT FED institute. Just like Johnas Salk set up to work on vacinees. The extensive of the PIxt patent portfolio is an attarctive neucules for a university to fund by grant such a high tech institute as a research institute to advance the technology. PIXT did not select Santa Clara by chance for it's US reasearch site. It's close proxsimity to Stanford could be an important like to a US based institute in compition with a french Sorbone application viing for the opertunity. PIXT brings the technology, the university brings the scientists and professors which attracts the students. The gov and the university jointly fund the grants and share advancements revenue through liscesings and royalty fees on production units. It's a model for shared financing of hi tech R&D for the future. PIXT just hire a president and COO to handle production and makreting to give the chairman the oppertunity to focus on the PIXT technology roadmap to advance the technology beyond 15" to 40"
