End of DELL Gravy Train? Slightly over a year ago, when CPQ opened the floodgates of the Sub $1000 PC, few thought the impact would be this profound. Suddenly nobody is smiling anymore. Even Grove (INTC)cannot meet estimates on such cheap machines. The story at CPQ is of course well known. Some 2nd and 3rd tier (bigger names too like Toshiba's desktop) are jumping ship and exiting the industry altogether. All through this Michael's ship seems to be on course. By sticking to the corporate market DELL seems to have weathered the storm...staying focused, being lowest cost industry producer, blowing away estimates, expanding globally..etc..etc... ENTER THE CORPORATE "SUB ZERO" "On the business side, Gateway 2000, which has resisted entering the sub-$1,000 consumer market, has unveiled a $999 machine for corporate customers." so says the current BusinessWeek.http://www.businessweek.com/1998/14/b3572160.htm Now as far as I am concerned this may open floodgates in the corporate PCs which have hitherto been a big part of DELLs strength (in addition to the Servers and Wrkstations). What follows may not be so desirable. Remember the days when the most expensive watch was the most accurate and reliable? Long on DELL. For now. C

Freeus, Hi!!! Buy Dell if it dips...hey,,,,I'd buy Dell anytime I have money....never thought I'd lose a dime unless I wanted my profits immediately.... Getting ready....think we are in for an early run prior to earnings...too many out there finding out that the govt. ain't gonna save you when you retire....and the possibility of being able to put aside money for your own SSecurity.....wwwwwhhhhhhhoooooaaaaaaaa......this market will skyrocket...especially the techs...that is where the greatest possible long term profits are....
