Jim,

The Gartner Group report states exactly what you said. In other words you do not want to install a Major upgrade of NOS so close to the year 2000 deadline because there are too many other things going on. Nowhere did I say the NT5 was not Y2K Ready.

I stand by my opinion in that NT4 not yet Y2K Compliant as the industry knows it. They have patched it up the best they could. Read the following site on what these people think about Microsoft's attempt at making their code Y2K compliant.

Jim, I'm sorry but I share Scott Lemon's opinion that if Microsoft was sooo concerned about Y2K and they truly believed that they have properly fixed the problem, they are doing absolutely nothing to quell the growing fears that Microsoft products are not compliant.

We have one major customer that is becoming a pure Microsoft NT shop. They have tried unsucessfully to get a commitment from Microsoft that that their NT4 is truly Y2K Compliant. Tell me Jim, why would Microsoft be hiding these critical facts? Jim, go to the home page of Microsoft and try to easily find Microsoft's Y2K compliancy page. Not easy is it! It gives me the impression that Microsoft is trying to hide something. Sorry, you can flame at me all you want, but until Microsoft comes out in the open and publicly announces that their NT code is completely Y2K compliant, I simply won't believe you. I guess we will all find out in 733 days (or somewhere around there).

Sincerely!
