<A> Telegroup Makes International Dialing Easier in Sweden FAIRFIELD, Iowa--Telegroup, Inc., a leading provider of global telecommunications services, announced that it has introduced a convenient, new long distance service, Global Access Direct (GAD), to customers throughout Sweden. Until recently, Telegroup had been utilizing "callback" in Sweden, which required customers to dial a number in the United States and be called back with a U.S. dial tone in order to complete their international call. Now, by interconnecting Swedish customers with the Telegroup Intelligent Global Network(R), Telegroup is able to offer Global Access Direct, which allows the customer to direct dial an international destination after accessing a toll-free number. GAD also permits customers traveling within Sweden to make international calls by using a personal authorization code. "Telegroup is in the vanguard in providing convenient, economical long distance dialing throughout Europe," says Hugh Brennan, Telegroup General Manager for Northern Europe. "We'll be continuing to upgrade the services we offer in Sweden in the direction of greater convenience and cost savings through 1998." Telegroup is a leading global provider of long distance telecommunications services. The company offers a broad range of discounted international, national, and enhanced telecommunications services to over 200 countries, to small- and medium-sized business and residential customers. In addition, Telegroup offers value-added wholesale services to over forty domestic and international telecommunications carriers. The company has achieved its significant international market penetration by developing what it believes to be one of the most comprehensive global sales, marketing, and customer service organizations. Telegroup operates a reliable, cost-effective, digital, facilities-based network, the Telegroup Intelligent Global Network(R), which consists of a central network operating center, twenty-one switches, five enhanced service platforms, owned or leased capacity on nine digital fiber-optic cable links, and leased parallel data transmission capacity connecting Telegroup's switches to each other and the networks of other national and international carriers. Telegroup had revenues of $337 million in 1997.
