Don,

I agree with your correction on the VoIP front. ASND is late to the game. However, why do you believe this pup will be trading in the low 20's in the near furture. From what I see and hear ASND has an advantage in switching and technology.

Oh Oh, Cisco bigot in our midst perhaps? Employees leaving en Masse? I would love to hear your evidence to substantiate your claims of rats leaving a sinking ship when in fact Ascend has a positive balance sheet in terms of recruiting employees from the competition. Their VP of engineering came from Cisco and brought engineers with him for example. I think this is due to the creative/innovative culture in the company which engineers enjoy rather than the big corporate atmosphere found in the likes of 3Com and Cisco. Your reference to QOS on the NAS is interesting too, Perhaps you are sold on (or should I say suckered) the idea of RSVP to ensure this for Voice Transmission. I bet if you pressed any ISP network engineering guy on this subject, he would probably tell you he ain't gonna touch it with a ten foot pole. If you don't believe me then check out RFC2208, in particular the RSVP Applicability Statement. Cisco have nailed their Flag (for the time being) to promoting this ineffective method (while they play catch up on the Cascade offering) at every seminar they present at. Most non-corporate users remain unconvinced but thats the ASND/CSCC marketplace. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Bill

An unashamed ASND bigot
