J--Understand...rough time for those invested. I was fortunate to go into '73 owning only a single stock, GAC Corp, which I sold in January. Didn't own a thing until Oct 74, when I put half my cash back in...the other half in Dec 74. And some of my stocks tripled before Feb (Ampex, AMI). Growth has been the best route to profits since then, IMHO, although I have emphasized the value approach several times as well.
BTW...I also see a repeat of the minor bear markets of the era preceding the 74 crash. I sort of look at 1987 being a repeat of 1957, so I'm sliding all my comparisons out by 30 years. There was a rather nasty decline into 1970 from a euphoric high in 1969. So I will look for a comparable decline in 2000. TSO
