Advanced Micro CFO Marvin Burkett resigns

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 24 (Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc., which makes integrated circuits for the computer and networking industry, said Wednesday its chief financial officer, Marvin Burkett, resigned to take a position at a noncompeting company.

Advanced Micro's president and chief operating officer, Richard Previte, will take over Burkett's responsibilities until the company names a successor, a company statement said. A spokesman was not immediately available to say to which company Burkett, 56, was going.

Previte joined Advanced Micro in 1969 and was the company's chief financial officer until 1989, when Burkett took over that position.
