Heard a rumor from my broker about a major DOW correction for next week.

There is always the potential of a significant correction in the Dow and overall US (and European) markets. US tax returns are due April 15, which may be why your broker is calling this for next week. Given the time to collect settlements from accounts, the selling period could start soon and continue through about April 10 at least. Some people may have to sell stock to pay for capital gains on appreciated stock, which are up to 50% of the amount of appreciation for the sum of federal and state taxes.

Personally I feel there is a fair chance of this happening or at best a flat Dow. Earnings season will also be upon us in full swing toward the middle of the month and some companies will not be reporting very good results. IMO, April could be a down month, although people remain quite optimistic in the US.

Of course, positive earnings news from CREAF would likely overcome weakness of the overall market.
