Yes, I actually took three years of Latin when I was a kid, way back in the dim times before it disappeared from Los Angeles junior and senior high schools. And yes, the insight Latin gave me into any other language I studied, including my native English, was one of the most valuable things I got out of my secondary education. I think it was exceeded in value only by touch typing and wood shop.

Wisam, I agree wholeheartedly with the value of Latin. In fact, I teach Latin at McMaster University, not far from you. Both York and U. of T. will offer an introductory course. It is not impossible, however, to teach yourself: F. Wheelock, Wheelock's Latin (5th ed.) is very friendly towards this kind of project. Get in touch if you want to pursue this.
