First off Block does not charge by the line, but by the form. You would have additional charges for Sch D-1's. Turbo tax will do a nice job for your tax return. You must list all trades. You will not be able to electronically file as your trades excede the max for that.

Moe, You can do your own 1040 using Schedule D and the attachment Schedule D-1. I would ADVISE that you list each and every one of the 100 trades on these forms.

ALSO be advised that for 1997 the Schedule D is the MOST COMPLICATED IT HAS EVER BEEN.

IMO you will need to be very careful. Screw up and you might under pay your tax and get penalized if they catch it... OR you might OVERpay and they might NOT catch it!! (g)
