Re silver from gold - I don't know the figure for Barrick's 'silver reserves' - but I checked with a geologist friend a while back and he told me that silver is associated with almost all gold which is produced
round the world. It is easy - the mint refines the silver out of the gold bar and credits the producer with the value.
