NEWS: auxilium to Provide Mainframe Connectivity for Business-critical Legacy Applications

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1998--

OEM Agreement for CNT's Enterprise/Access Adds Web-to-Host

Integration to auxilium's Info-Engine(R)

auxilium inc. today announced that they have signed an OEM agreement with Computer Network Technology (CNT), Minneapolis, Minn., in which auxilium will purchase CNT's Enterprise/Access product.

The combination of the CNT product with auxilium's widely-recognized Info-Engine(R) intranet application suite provides for new mainframe access functionality. By employing Enterprise/Access, Info-Engine now offers users the additional capability of accessing information from mainframe-based manufacturing systems, combining this information with data from other systems and applications, and sharing the information across the extended enterprise -- and beyond. The interoperability of all these individual applications and databases allows for common processes to be used across multiple job functions.

"Info-Engine delivers business-critical information to individual users in a way that is unique to each individual job function," said Mike Viola, president and CEO of auxilium inc. "For the first time, there is an opportunity to optimize processes by combining the power of mature production systems with new 'going forward' technology systems and applications that many companies are turning to today to impact performance."

auxilium's Info-Engine is the industry's only integrated, scalable, and dynamic information access application suite for manufacturing systems. Info-Engine leverages investments in legacy systems by integrating and connecting disparate legacy information -- thereby eliminating barriers to data repositories. The product uses a scalable, open-systems architecture to enhance data access across heterogeneous computing environments.

Enterprise/Access from CNT is a completely non-intrusive development tool and production environment for rapidly creating and deploying new business applications. Based on open systems and object-oriented technologies, Enterprise/Access enables the integration of front-end applications and networks with back-end corporate terminal-based applications with no changes to existing applications and security. This means existing mission-critical legacy applications can be easily extended with new content-rich graphical interfaces in new applications for sophisticated new users.

"By using Enterprise/Access to add mainframe connectivity to Info-Engine, auxilium provides additional flexibility and capabilities for companies that need to access mission-critical legacy applications via the Web," said Steve Gimnicher, vice president of marketing and business development for CNT's Internet Solutions Division. "This unique combination underscores CNT's strategy of providing a key component in meeting the growing need for comprehensive Web-to-host integration solutions with our CARE suite of products, which includes Enterprise/Access."

Computer Network Technology (NASDAQ:CMNT), based in Minneapolis, Minn., is a leading provider of high-performance networking solutions that allow mainframe systems and open systems environments -- such as the web -- to share data and information. For more information, visit CNT's web site at cnt.com, or call 800/638-8324 (U.S.) or 612/797-6000 (International).

auxilium inc. is the leading supplier of intranet software for manufacturing organizations, providing connectivity across engineering, planning, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers. Employing interoperability technology and an intuitive graphical user interface developed by the company, auxilium's Info-Engine(R) software facilitates the wide-scale use of information and applications between manufacturing companies and the supply chain. It would explain the insider trading.
Dispite all the recent news on CNT the stock hasn't budged!
And what a string of news they've had. No lack of it that's
for sure.
I do know that, although it was a while back, EMC and CNT
have worked hand in hand before.
Can anyone recall that and what it was about?
(I miss NewsNet)
An earnings pop is what everyone's waiting for I guess.
I've seen this stock at 12 on 3 different occasions in the past
5-6 years so it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see it there
again someday soon...after a healthy quarterly report, that is.
