Car Navigation Projection for 1998 By Electronics Business Association of Japan Within the video equipment sector, car navigation systems put in the best performance (in 1997), up 31.2 percent to 115.0 billion yen ($905.5 million) and up 28.8 percent in unit terms to 1.32 million units. For the coming year, the group forecast car navigation system shipments will jump 30.4 percent to 150.0 billion yen ($1.18 billion) or 35.0 percent in unit terms to 1.78 million systems.
