Bernie, I might also add that a chronic rise in TG levels with time is a much more serious problem than an acute, short-term spike. In our protocol, if the chronic rise in TG levels exceeds 400 mg/dL, the dose is lowered or discontinued until it drops to a safe level. Retinoids are known to raise TG levels, but the mechanism is uncertain. My colleagues and I are still arguing about this issue. Can't say too much more because of NDA's (non-disclosure agreements <grin>).
