Big Dog,

I have a somewhat different take on the deepwater/shallow drilling question. Given the strength in natural gas, I think you are likely to see continued strong funding of natural gas plays supporting the shallow drillers as well as the deep drillers. While the deep drilling is a more secure long-term play, this has also been reflected in the relative price performance of deep drilling companies. On a relative value basis, I think the shallow offshore drillers, particularly those focused on Gulf gas projects look currently more attractive -- more upside, less downside. Perhaps they will get a big run and the relative valuation will change, but going into the earnings season, I think you are likely to see more appreciation from upside surprises among the shallower drillers.
