Interesting that an article appeared in SJ Mercury about the announcement. They call it "GV bails out of modems". Very strange the way they word the article. Seems a little weird how the article reads like no big deal.

Has a quote from CEO, "To compete in both the Mac and Windows world as a company GV didn't have the resources to do that on our own and fund the growth of the server business. By selling the modem business to to Boca Research, GV will have cash to invest in our new server business".

"Dataquest analyst says its a good deal for both parties. With this move Boca will be able to manufacture its products less expensively."

Goes on about the industry and how Boca is going to continue with making the popular modems and ends with this.

"Global Village stock fell 43% to $1.06. Boca Research gained .13 to $5.32.

I think if you read between the lines the stockholders got screwed so they could get cash to start a new venture. Problem is that the stockholders paid dearly for them to do this. I still can't figure out why they chose to do this now when they have never turned around their core business in the first place. Instead they have a garage sale on the modem business at the worst possible time just so they can get it off their backs and do something different. Great so now they have 10 million to play with, let's see how long it takes them to dwindle this one down. Next time there will be no sale. It's called "free".
