The Merrill "downgrade" was due to price appreciation. It still has a long term buy, if I remember correctly. Also, today Robbie Stevens restructured it's recommendation matrix, AOL slated as "Strong Buy." I also read somewhere about Goldman Sachs reit AOL on the recommended list.

Oh yeah, I think there was also something coming out of CS First Boston about internet stocks today, or yesterday.

Bertelsmann to unload more than $100 million in AOL stock America Online's German partner, Bertelsmann AG, has filed to sell 900,000 shares of AOL stock for $114.3 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Stephen Case Foundation has filed to sell 16,130 shares, valued at about $2 million, according to a separate filing.

is aol begining a new round of run up from today ?
i kept asking you guys: are there really bad news
coming from aol ? NO! then the only wish is the whole
market tanking but the answer is again NO. bearing
in mind this situation, why should you guys think aol
will fall ??? just because you guys shorted it ?
i think this thread is kind of misleading now.
