bloomberg today pointed out 1st thing in the morning to poor performance of celeron vs k6 which is positioned to compete with it. Intel claimed that poor performance is due to pre-production chip yet if the following is not April fools joke Intel was shipping Celery fo a while already:

the lower than expected price may be an indication that the results are more valid than Intel let us believe.

On another hand Intel is going to invest 4B in Australian fab in addition to recently announced 2B in Asian markets. That is a $4b investment that comes together with buy-back fillings and increased expenses. Is intel finally going to issue a substantial amount in bonds?

AMD Enters Into Microprocessor Foundry Agreement With IBM Corporation

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1998--AMD today announced that it has signed a two-year foundry agreement with the International Business Machines Corporation [NYSE:IBM - news].

The agreement will somewhat augment AMD's capacity from Fab 25 in Austin, Texas, for the production of AMD-K6(tm) microprocessors. AMD said that wafer starts at IBM are planned to commence during the third quarter of 1998.
