"...any stock that is paid for is segregated..." That's not true, any stock in a margin account can be segregated or not, loaned out or not, it's strictly up to the brokerage. If it's paid for and is in a cash account, it can't then (legally) be loaned out. viper - you get a dial tone when you call your mother, right?
