Everyone should probably call their broker and speak to them about selling using the cusip number from their stock certificate before they decide to sell so they know the broker can handle it and the broker is familiar with the situation. They can make notations in our accounts of the arrangement. The only thing that can go wrong is the cert is not sent in, but they will know who owns the shares.
