I'll entertain any wagers that we see 25 before 30.Any takers?

I'll bite. What kind of wager would you like?

Eric

This has nothing to do with being a snob, and everything to do with trying to foster a forum for intelligent discussion,

I embrace all comments, whether positive or negative, concerning apple AS LONG AS THEY ARE INTELLIGENT AND RATIONAL. The stuff that gets my goat is sell this dog its going to $5, or go apple go its going to $50.

There are many venues for posts such as this already on the web, I'm, as a paying member, just trying to keep SI a useful and productive resource.

Shorts are welcome, longs are welcome, members are welcome, newbies are welcome, freebies are welcome as long as they offer timely and intelligent discourse.

That is the last you'll here from me on the subject. Lets get this thread back to the matters at hand - information that affects the price of Apple Computer!

Here's my amateur attempt at TA for AAPL.

This stock has hit the proverbial 'wall'.

It has also hit the proverbial 'floor.'

My sense is that we've hit an equilibrium point similar to the one we hit in Sept-Oct 97, after the stock had settled down from the Microsoft announcement. At that time, the stock traded between $22 and $24. We're in the same pattern now, trading between $26 and $28.

By equilibrium I mean that the market, as a whole, thinks that this is roughly the right price for AAPL, until further news.

The fall 97 equilibrium cracked when Apple announced a loss for Q4, followed by the broader market mini-crash, followed by the over-hyped Nov 10 announcement, followed by tax-loss selloff, all of which conspired to push it down to $13.

In the same way, I don't see AAPL's price changing significantly, either up or down, until further news comes out. The earnings report on the 15th is the biggie, and that should determine whether we see $25 or $30 first.

As for discouraging us
shorts from posting, too bad.Last time I checked this is still America and the first amendment hasn't been
appealed.

I have been watching this debate between the longs and shorts and thought I'd put in
my two cents. I've been a Silicon Investor member for awhile, and I
read this and other threads often. I've also been long AAPL for some
time. I post very infrequently because I have nothing of substance to
add beyond what more knowledgable AAPL threadmembers (such as Phil, Eric,
etc.) post. I could fill people's bandwidth with "GO AAPL", "Its going to
$100!!!" posts, but its discourteous and adds nothing to the discussion.
I have absolutely nothing against shorts posting substantive notes that
may add to my information base and help me decide what to do with
my investment. However, what I've seen from most of the shorts have been
posts of the "AAPL sucks!!!" variety, with little substantively added
as to why they believe that. Or if anything of substance, they tend to
repeat it OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I feel that its discourteous and transparent,
and I'd appreciate shorts AND longs without new information to join us
lurkers and read the posts of those with information. If it's so
important to see your names on the screen, find another venue.

I find your position theoretically plausible. However, it is not practical. I've been waiting for this stock to drop significantly for a couple of weeks now (with the hope of getting back in at a good price before the next increase) but to absolutely no avail!!! The stock's base simply seems to be too strong. 30 before 25, without a doubt (unfortunately for me).

<<This stock has hit the proverbial 'wall'.>> Yes but it also has found the proverbial 'floor' {support}. It's called 'basing'. And it is not even close to the 'ceiling' yet. We'll have a nice room by the time we're done.Bill
