Hi All:

Check this out:

Excerpt from the April 1st, 1998 edition of Outstanding Investments by
Michael Schaefer

Westrend Natural Gas Inc. (WRN - VSE) continues on its quest of becoming a major player in the oil services industry. In fact, if current
negotiations succeed, it has the very real potential to become an
integral part of the second largest land-based service and drilling rig
manufacturing company in the world.

Specifically, President Mark Roberts is in negotiations with several
manufacturing companies whereby all would come together under one roof and one company. The idea makes a tremendous amount of sense due to the efficiencies and savings which would flow from combining manufacturing and marketing into one central facility.

The companies involved fit together well. They all have their own
manufacturing niche so there is no redundancy. From small rigs to large rigs, to carriers and associated products and services, it would be seamless. Productivity should increase dramatically and, as the combined company would be able to deliver a complete line of products from the ground up, it would have a much greater impact in the marketplace as well.

The actual amalgamation of these companies into one entity - should it go through - will create a situation where the whole is much greater
than the sum of its parts. If this works out as planned it will be a big
win for our holdings in Westrend.

Whether we receive shares in the new company, or whether Westrend will own a large chunk of that new company, is not clear at this stage.

Either way, we believe valuations will increase substantially. Despite
rising almost 50% since our initial recommendation, Westrend still sells
for only about C$0.75 and, based on current plans, remains a strong buy.

The company has released a lengthy press release on the proposed
amalgamation, and it would be worth your while to call, write, or fax to
receive a copy. Stay in touch with this situation in the pages of this
publication, and Hot Stock Fax Alert subscribers should be alert to a
possible fax should we confirm that the amalgamation is going to happen.

We could have news on this as early as the first half of April.
