Well, I guess I was too proud this a.m., but she's still on track.

Maybe, but we're all entitled to our opinions, aren't we?

I remember when Mondex was a small trial in a town called Swindon in west England, which was seen as a complete joke at the time. Needless to say nobody took it up.

Anyway, Mondex was bought by Mastercard, I think in 96 & they started a trial with Citibank on the Upper West side in NY last summer. That too has failed because US banks have finally got round to issuing debit cards, so people just draw the cash out & use that. The Mondex terminals don't appear to work in the stores I've been in & there have been numerous reports in NY papers about how fed up store owners are with them.

Anyhow, we already have digital cash & it works alongside normal cash. For very small items in shops, are we really going to get the costs down so far that it is more economic to load up a card & then take the cash equivalent off it? It's very easy to make sweeping predictions. I'm just trying to keep my feet on the ground.
