The number, if low, is irrelevant. The MM will hide his true size. He may be good for the 500 shares only, or he may have 50,000 behind that number. A friend of mine had his trader look for size to buy and there wasn't any out there. He tried to fill or kill a large number of shares to buy and the MM's did not have it. It shows there is not a lot of stock out there.
