The lab does 1000's of samples, some for grade control, some in dead holes. Do not forget a deal hole 1200 feet long can generate 300-400 samples. Depends on interval selected. A lab assays and reports like a machine. Fully automated.
Normally when you hire the lab you ask for any special extras, like micro work. This is costly as it is labor intensive and can double or triple the sample charges, or more. In addition the crushing for sampling will mong the gold to a degree. the really needed to rinse and classify and examine the gold prior to sample crushing and riffling out their 30+ grams.
It was already irregular for them to get pre-crushed samples, excuse, low grades foy heap leach. That and the emperors clothes was all that was needed to let BRE-X, the fraud, live.
