Good reviews may sell games but bad reviews certainly drive down stock prices...just look at Eidsy with Deathtrap Dungeon today.

<<<Do reviews sell games?>>>
Hype sells games Tom<G>,just
kidding or am i???.
I think joe blow gamer who
just finished Myst and wanted
to buy a new game, might pick
up a Battlezone box and see all the
4 and 5 star ratings, and might just
buy it.
It would kind of be like the Siskel
and Ebert rating,2 thumbs up it must
be good.
Hard core gamers read Usenet and
make their decisions, or they visit
a warez site and if they like it enough
they will buy it.
The game Magazines probably appeal
to the "casual" gamer not joe blow
gamer. The only problem there is with
circulations of only 250k to 300k, how
many people make a decision to buy it from a
magazine review?. Besides,by the time the
review is released the game is already
past it's prime. All the magazine people
have been flamed out of Usenet, they used
to post alot, but when all the "truth"
came out about how they review games, they
left in a hurry.
I think some of the Web pages put up
by gamers might sell a few copies. Ones
like OGR, etc, might help to. Personally
i wouldn't buy a game based on a review form OGR.
Well, enough rambling. Starcraft is on the
shelfs.Let's hope it totally sucks, actually
pray it sucks, otherwise everybody and then
some will be on Battle Net.

With all the games that are out there, good reviews keep you in the running - bad reviews bury you. Just bought Quake II, been playing the grandma level, but I love it! Battlezone sounds good and I'll probably buy it as a change in pace. Loved Warcraft II - waiting to see Starcraft. After a hard day at the office and a night of research - shooting an UZI, tossing grenades and wreaking havoc really does relieve the tension. I just wish I had all this when I was younger and had the time. Joe C.
