Re: How meme becomes profitable in 2nd Q '98.

Yes, somewhere in one of those few press releases- according to the C.E.O.- I paraphrase--"even with our small staff we can sign up about 20 new users per day(or was it per wk?, nah, had to be per day), which would make us profitable by 2nd Q '98." That's what he wrote... .

I haven't figured it all up, but just remembering all the tiny numbers involved here, it actually sounds reasonable. 20 a day for a month is 600,x3mo's is 1800 users x $20/per mo. = $36,000 rev. per month(and I suspect they'll charge up to double that). Need I go on? There ya are, tear me up! By the by, I think Gilder had indicated that if such a system were successfully created, the range of the radio system could be expected to be covering a 30 to 50 mile(or thereabouts) radius per set-up.

This could be good... .

correction. That WAS 20 new connections a WEEK, and he said meme should reach BREAKEVEN, not profitability. Sorry. He's seeking business customers. WHAT could he charge 240 customers per month by Q-2 end? It's still gonna add up- wonderfully I'd say. At $40 per(probably low) that's $9600(?) per month to break even, or so it is speculated. If so...costs are low...and they should be...we don't have this info. however. Break even in a Quarter- should I hold my breath? Still, it sure does add up in the end. Demand should be the smallest problem. No wire to lay. No cable to reconfigure for 2-way use. How much will it cost to set-up, indeed? A myriad of questions, great potential.
I hope this is more realistic than my last post. So what will this fancy new radio cost, anyone? Cheaper than we know? Or not!
