Might it be easier to blame Asia, a reason that investors are conditioned to accept, than to blame real internal conditions that would be more damaging to the stock?

You can say the same about oil service. Shoot up in the wake of falling oil prices. I think American are married to their stocks. It is getting more dangerous going against the trend.
