Re "Special Meeting 4/24": Could one of you elaborate about this? What special meeting are you talking about? I did not see the filing. Is this a BOD meeting, analysts' meeting, or something else? Authorizing 100MM new shares on a 220MM base is usually in anticipation of a stock split of some kind, or a big acquisition. I sure don't see the first happening before $50+/share, and what big acquisition is out there? Lord knows they shouldn't be looking at Cabletron!!! Any more info you can share, or refer me to filing?

Thanks- Paul

Dear Mr Picker - don't know, but I agree with you that it is very much a crapshoot in term of making projection. It is possible that the analysts use a mix of historical ratio and channel inventories to arrive at some extrapolated #s. Maybe one of the reasons BAY is not as favored by some analysts as others is that it is harder to guess. Remember, one of the persistent complaints is that BAY didn't break down the sale information by geographic areas for them.

I really don't know the track record of Michael K at SV; however, my impression of SV is pretty much tainted by the guy who tracks the telecom equipment sector. So far, it seems to me that Messr Noel Lindsay - who no longer does tracking for DMG - has by far the best tracking records.

Well, another couple of weeks. Time will tell
