Gerald,

Glad to hear about your positive DHT experience. I gave up on paying $8K for one after waiting 9 months and settled for a 60" Pioneer Elite set. Remarkably good for a projection set but not as good as I remember the DHT I saw at Texas Inst.

Still, I got my Pioneer out the door for $4500 (thanks Home THeater Store - Preston Road, Dallas Texas - Kevin Klegg) which is a damn lot less than $8K or $10K.

I am real long in PJTV because I too believe that consumers will shell out the bucks for a good picture, but I think they have to target $5K-$6K. Your average consumer would settle for a $3000 Sony/Hitachi/RCA/etc. model. Not too many people make enough to be able to afford a Vidikron or Runco model.

SOrry about the rambling with no point - just my 2c worth.

DVD to DHT...

echnically you are correct

I really meant digitally based (or as you say mpeg)

the digitally compressed DVD then briefly transmitted analog
to the digital display of DHT...
I don't believe there is component input but in instruction manual it says to keep projector box as future upgrades to hdtv are
expected...(probably a card).

It has s-video input but is currently recieves an analog signal...

With DVD I really tried to find anything wrong with picture..

To my view could not find any imperfections with DVD display...

I think one thing people will be finding with DLP based products is that each pixel is digitally controlled with a number for intensity of
color...

CRT and LCD displays use Horizontal lines that string together
many ,many pixels and don't have anywhere near the level
of detailed control over color...

It is really rather stunning.
