yes, dahl was used but on a weekly chart, you drew yourself. 10 weeks with a 3 week lookback. Dahl developed it after extensive computer look using Perdue computer in early 70s. About 1/2 of my templates use the VariableMA511, it is quicker but it is not an advantage on Indices. The footprint of that VAR is different than EMA or WMA. The simple MA slows you down so you stay for the longer trend.

If Dahl is too slow for you, use something else. There is no magic formula but Dahl won't hurt you like some do.
