Hi Wiley,
Sorry I didn't get to respond to your original question. First, I want to say welcome to the thread and we are just pleased as punch to have you here. :-)

About P&F. It is one of the oldest methodologies out there. Created by Charles Dow, it measures supply and demand but not time. As Jerry pointed out, it is easy to comprehend and presents itself in a clear pattern understandable by all.

Is it the best? That is judged by the individuals who use it. I think it is, many others think it is, brokerage houses and exchanges are big proponents but; the individual needs to make the decision as to what TA works best for them. Word of advice. Find one TA and become great at it. Don't use two and be mediocre at both.

If you want to learn P&F I suggest you buy Tom Dorsey's book, Point and Figure Charting, which you can find at Amazon.com and you log-in to his site for a free two week trial dorseywright.com
Then come visit this thread and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. There are a lot of people here willing to help.

Best of luck to you,

Jan
