What's yours? (motivation)

Let's see, it might be that you'd like to get somebody to buy your shares for more than you paid for them. If you are long the stock, wouldn't that logically be your motivation for being here? Isn't that ultimately your goal? To sell the stock, at a profit, to somebody who - if you've been completely successful - will then lose money on the stock? (Because, if you are completely successful, you will have sold at the top.)

It seems to me that the fundamental position of a long in participating in a thread is one of deceit - to make the stock appear more valuable than it actually is.

But I think it's a sad comment on the stock when the only thing we can find to talk about is what each of our motovations are.

Are you by chance a Star Trek:Deep Space 9 fan? (Or at least familiar with it?) You remind me of Quark, and so there's little point in trying to reason with you on this point. You will just keep repeating "I don't understand! What's the prooooooofit?"

While I do think this discussion is fascinating (what are the true motivations and fundamental biases of posters based on their long, short, or non-position in a stock), don't you think it belongs somewhere else besides the NETZ thread? (particularly discussions of particular indivual's motivations, which I think doesn't belong anywhere on SI)
