Those are questions for your bank. You made a contract with the bank to leave the funds on deposit for an extended period of time. In exchange for that promise, the bank agreed to pay a high interest rate.

So you need to know if the bank will consider changing the account (but not the funds). Some banks just "flag" the account, that's no big deal.

Other banks need to CLOSE the account, and OPEN a new one. That IS a big deal.

Some banks WAIVE fees for elder citizens, over 59.5 years-of-age - This is some kind of IRA rule the banks may follow.
