WinStar and The Bank of New York Complete $42 Million
Sale/Leaseback Agreement for Seven Telecom Switches

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 1998--WINSTAR COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (NASDAQ-WCII) today
announced it has executed a $42 million leasing facility with BNY Capital Resources Corporation, a subsidiary of The Bank
of New York.

WinStar said the leasing arrangement relates to seven telecommunications switches in its broadband network which are
located in Columbus, OH; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; Kansas City, KS; Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; and Tampa,
FL.

The seven switches, which are the subject of this facility, were acquired in connection with WinStar's acquisition of 14
Lucent 5ESS-2000 telecommunications switches from US One Communications Corp. in October 1997. Of the remaining
seven switches, five have been sold or are under contract for sale, for sales prices totaling $36 million. Two switches remain
to be sold.

WinStar Communications, Inc. is a national local communications company, serving business customers, long distance
carriers, fiber-based competitive access providers, mobile communications companies, local telephone companies, and other
customers with broadband local communications needs. The company provides its Wireless Fiber(SM) services using its
licenses in the 38 GHz spectrum. The company also provides long distance, Internet and information services.

Seriously, I think anyone that's been here for a while (Paul, Ali, Gabor, Patrick, Brian, Ellis, etc) will tell you that Ric D has been right on top of this company for years. When he says buy, especially buying options, I'd tend to listen to him. I think the tone of his messages hint at him knowing something we don't. Even if not, buying WinStar on any type of weakness has obviously been a good strategy, and I see no reason to believe that doesn't still hold true.

One problem; if we're all trading options, whose going to drive the price of the stock up :-)?

Question; do you buy and hold options for that big 20 to 1 payoff, or do trade them after any pop? What's your strategy with calls?

PS I like your Jan 99 45 leaps. Looks like a sure fire winner at only around 8. Good luck.
