Interesting action at open. MMs working against shorts now? Gap down, sucker in some shorts, then right back up. Whipsaw cuts both ways, it seems.

Embedded Systems Expert Tapped By California Department of
Information Technology

ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 1, 1998--CTA Inc., a
Rockville-based information systems and services company, announced
Wednesday that they have been awarded a contract to develop a
statewide Year 2000 Embedded Systems Program for the California
Department of Information Technology.
Under the agreement, CTA will assist the Department of
Information Technology in developing the plan and procedures that
California agencies will use to identify and fix embedded
microprocessor systems that could fail due to the inability to
comprehend the century date change.
Examples of systems California officials are concerned with
include, environmental control systems, building systems, keyless
entry systems, elevators, process controllers, traffic control,
security, and communications control systems.
"We are extremely pleased that California selected CTA for this
important project," said Stuart O. Witt, CTA Inc.'s vice president
for Western Region Operations and embedded systems expert. "The
state was seeking a proven and effective methodology for resolving
its Year 2000 issues. We believe CTA's methods are well matched to
California's requirements."
The statewide program will be developed with the expertise CTA
has acquired while implementing its embedded systems methodology in
several federal and commercial contracts. CTA also will provide and
operate a clearinghouse of Year 2000 compliance information for the
State of California on a pilot project basis.
Since 1993, CTA has converted well over 50 million lines of code.
CTA also has developed expertise in embedded systems Year 2000
remediation. CTA operates a network of three Conversion Centers
across the country that act as "software factories" to perform Year
2000 conversions for companies desiring off-site assistance.
In addition, CTA is one of the few companies to offer a warranty
on its remediation and assessment work. CTA's "Century 2000
Solution" methodology is certified by the Information Technology
Association of America (ITAA).
