HerbVic,

It's my impression, like yours, that Apple is trading in this narrow range till something happens or is soon to happen. The longer we trade in the 27-28 area, the stronger the base we are forming, so even though it's not racing upward, it's not a bad thing that it's sitting at this high level and in a narrow range.

I'm going to pick up the 8100 tonight or tomorrow night. They backed up the HD to a CD-ROM disc for $90. (I wanted to give them some business since they gave me the free estimate and wanted to sell me a computer, but didn't sell me anything. And I did need to get the data off the drive.) I can put it on my 3400.

No, I didn't try cleaning the board with anything because I didn't notice that it was corroded. They said "badly" corroded but I didn't inspect it at all. Do you mean denatured alcohol? I don't think I have any, or any trichlorethylene technical. I have a lot of catalogs here and I can look for a place from which to order these things. Not sure where to go for them here in town. It won't hurt at all to fiddle with the board since I'd otherwise scrap it and I've already done all the damage I can possibly do.

I hope it's not a huge premium but the speed difference is probably very great between the 300 mHz and 375. I should try to get the fastest if I can. How long do you think it'd be before I could get a 375 in my hot little hands?

I'm under pressure, still, to buy a PC. I don't think I can stand to do that. I have one in the other room, a 486/66. I preordered it before it was released, for development use, but really never learned enough about how to use it. It was very expensive, especially for a door stop. I sure wish I had that money now. Still, if I can't get the streaming Level II quotes on a Mac I might have to buy another, fastest, PC... Shattering thoughts.

Thanks for the very helpful suggestions. Happy APPL blossom Spring.

Linda
