Nationwide on April 4

PHOENIX, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- WavePhore, Inc. (Nasdaq: WAVO), today
announced WaveTop will be included as part of a preview of Windows 98, presented
by Microsoft eXtreme, a two-hour LIVE broadcast, in more than 35 theatres across
the country, via satellite directly from Microsoft. PC users can pre-register
for this event scheduled for April 4, 1998, where Microsoft product managers
will give an exclusive firsthand look at new products from Microsoft.

WaveTop previously announced that it will be included in the Windows 98
operating system when it ships later this year. Users will be able to receive
WaveTop's free programming on PC's equipped with TV Tuner cards. WaveTop uses
the VBI portion of the television signal to transmit data, nationwide, directly
to Home PC's via the PBS television station network. WaveTop includes the "best
of the net" content and software downloads without the bottleneck of the
Internet or tying up the phone line.

"We are very excited to give a sneak preview of WaveTop for Windows 98 to the
public" said David E. Deeds, chairman, president and CEO of WavePhore, Inc.
"Having Microsoft promote data broadcasting as a new feature within Windows 98
will significantly expand the exposure of WaveTop in the marketplace."
