Nelson, the short position data is correct but the float is NOT 3 miilion. the Motley Fool article on AMZN last month had the float at 8 million and CNBC has it at 11.5 million......

Yahoo data is outdated......the float was 3 million at the IPO..it has obviously increased since then especially with the insider selling....over 1 million shares were sold by insiders back in November and since Feb 4 this year over 50 form 144's were filed so a substantial more selling has occurred.....plus whatever else has come into the market from the 24 million registered shares.....

The float is 11.5 million.......;^)

>>The shares outstanding for AMZN: 23.9 million
The shares float for AMZN: 3.0 million>>

you are looking at old data as far as float. No one really knows exactely what the float is now. If we go by CNBC it's around 11 millions (as mentioned by Candle S) which I think is seems really high to me. Having said that 11 millions in the float is not good news for the shorts buy anymeans when you look at the price at which this dog is trading. It means that about 7 million are held by institutions which I doubt strongly. can you imagine this stock running up (like a thief) last month while the insiders are selling 7 millions shares, I really don't want to think about that. My best guess is a float of 5-6 millions as of now.
